You punch in her website, www.TheMedicin.com and navigate through the research, blogs, practitioner insights, and user testimonials on the homepage. You’re pretty stoked! This stuff looks awesome!
Then you see the price of a bottle of Immune Intel AHCC — Dang, that seems steep!

Once you get through this little blog post, you’ll understand exactly what AHCC is, the unique way it’s made, and why it’s different than any other supplement.
And the price tag will make perfect sense.
AHCC Isn’t Just Another Mushroom Supplement
AHCC is not a mushroom; you can’t go out into the forest and pick an AHCC mushroom. Rather, it comes from mushrooms. It’s a cultured extract from the mycelium of shiitake, developed through years of Japanese biotechnology.

First, you need to know why many mushroom products are so cheap.
Let’s look at Chaga because it’s so popular and it also has well known immune health properties. If you type in “Chaga mushroom supplement” on Amazon, you’ll see some very low-priced options, even as low as $7 for 60 capsules.
“Wow! What a deal!”…Not so fast.
What you’re paying for here is not high quality pure organic Chaga mushrooms. I’ve been in the mushroom industry for long enough to know that no one can grow real mushrooms and package them up for this price and still be in business.
There is a well-cited study that analyzed 19 commercial supplements labeled as Ganoderma lucidum (Reishi) and found only 5 of 19 (26%) could be verified as genuine.

Many generic mushroom supplements do not actually contain any real mushrooms. So what’s inside the capsule you’re swallowing? Most likely not what you think it is. Or it does not contain the dose you think it does. And you’re likely going to receive zero benefits.
Because mushrooms at scale are grown on rice, oats or rye, many mushroom supplement capsules are just ground up rice powder, or oat powder or rye powder with only a dash of the actual mushrooms.

Every Capsule Of AHCC Is Identical
Conversely, AHCC is manufactured under a patent-protected process. The quality is equal to that of any pharmaceutical. It has to be — it’s used in research organizations, teaching hospitals and cancer clinics all over the world.
Every batch of AHCC is cultured from one super sample preserved in an ISO certified deep freezer. It takes 45–60 days of fermentation in a sterile, pharmaceutical-grade facility, monitored with temperature and pressure sensitive sensors and tested for purity, potency, heavy metals, and contaminants. The process involves enzymatic reactions, sterilization, and concentration before its encapsulated and bottled up.
This process is quite expensive and light-years beyond typical “mushroom powder in a capsule” you find on Amazon. More expensive and intricate manufacturing process = more expensive end product, naturally.
The specific enzymatic reactions going on in this process decreases the molecular size of the active compounds in AHCC, which leads to higher potency and better absorption.
